Veðrið heima
The family’s weather screen. It hangs on the wall at home on an old iPad and answers the questions that matter in the morning: is it a good day to cycle to work, do the kids need hats and mittens for school, and when does the bus leave?

The day’s trips
The bike ride to work and the walk to school each get their own card. Temperature, wind and rain at the time of leaving, a rating from Good to Risky and tips like hat and mittens, studded tyres or reflectors.
The bus card shows the next buses in real time and when to leave to make it.

Two forecasts, side by side
Forecasts from the Icelandic Met Office and yr (MET Norway) are shown together, so it’s obvious when they disagree. Temperature, wind and rain for the next 24 hours, with the trip times marked.

Daylight
Sunrise, sunset and twilight, and how much shorter or longer the day is than yesterday.

On the phone too
The same page on a phone, light or dark to match the phone’s setting.

Night mode
From 10 pm to 6:30 am the screen dims and shows a big clock and the weather right now. Tap the screen to see everything. On family birthdays it shows a greeting and a fun fact about the day.

A small web server on the home computer fetches data from the Icelandic Met Office, yr and Strætó, and the screen updates itself. It’s only reachable at home, so here are pictures instead. The screen is in Icelandic, and place names are left out of the pictures.
